TRIBAC – PHILITAB AGREEMENT
Tribac Leaf Limited has reached an agreement with Philitab N.V. of Antwerp, Belgium in terms of which Philitab will act as a sales representative office of Tribac in respect of the sale of tobacco to designated customers,
specifically in the Benelux, France, Spain and certain other countries.
Philitab, established in the tobacco business for over seventy-five years, have an extensive knowledge, experience and expertise in the international tobacco business and a close relationship with their customers. They operate from a modern and efficient office in Antwerp close to the port. Besides the Antwerp headquarters,
Philitab has 2 other Sales Centres, in Sarlat, France and Hamburg, Germany. Philitab also have a subsidiary company: Philitab Services BVBA for all
logistic related tasts.
Tribac's agreement with Philitab represents a further significant step in the structural development of Tribac's business
and will result in the material consolidation and enhancement of Tribac's sales.
Tribac remains fully committed to continue to consolidate and expand its business around the world in a sound and correct manner for the long-term benefit of all its customers.
TRIBAC LEAF LIMITED ANNOUNCES
LETTER OF INTENT REGARDING
THE
PURCHASE OF MALAWI
FACTORY
Tribac Leaf Limited ("Tribac") has executed a Letter of Intent with
Alliance One International, Incl. ("AOI"), for an anticipated transaction
in which Tribac's Malawian operation, Africaleaf Malawi Limited ("Africaleaf"),
will purchase the Lilongwe North Factory facility including one threshing line
and other related assets, from AOI's wholly-owned subsidiary, Alliance One
Tobacco (Malawi) Limited ("Alliance One").
It is anticipated that a definitive purchase agreement will be signed in early
2007, with an expected closing in early 2008. Alliance One will continue to
operate the facility until the closing of the transaction.
Tribac and Africaleaf consider this to be a very positive move for their Group
and their growth strategy in key origins, building on their reputation of providing
to their customers a high quality service and competitively priced Malawian
product. The transaction also reflects the continued commitment to and confidence
of Tribac and Africaleaf in the Malawi Tobacco Industry, and creates the opportunity
for continued employment through the introduction of a third independent processing
facility.
