Following the decline in the number of worldwide tobacco merchants', Tribac acquired a 50% stake in Africaleaf (Malawi) Ltd in 1997, the balance being jointly owned by two Malawi residents.

Using their combined knowledge of the Malawi market and the strength of Tribac's support, the Company quickly established itself as a responsible and quality supplier of all derivatives of Malawi tobacco.

The tobaccos purchased on the Malawi auction floors are stored and packed at the Limbe Leaf Tobacco Company facility.

Africaleaf (Malawi) Ltd is also a principle buyer of Zambian Burley tobaccos, which is moved in its green form to Malawi for processing and storage prior to despatch to its customers.
